The diver reaches for the SMB. One hand manages the spool; the other begins the deployment. For the next few moments, a task that looked small in the briefing takes up both hands.
The line needs attention. Buoyancy still needs attention. The team is still moving through the water, and the essential information of the dive has not become any less important.
This is task loading in its most ordinary form: nothing has gone wrong, but several things still need to be managed at once.
DAÏVE HUD is a working prototype designed to bring depth, dive time, NDL and heading closer to the diver’s line of sight. During a hands-busy moment, it changes where those essentials appear.
It does not control the spool, maintain depth, manage the ascent or decide what happens next. Those responsibilities stay with the diver.
Training, team procedures, active checks, judgment and standard backup instruments remain essential.
